Carl Craig: All Black Vinyl 2023

Since day 1, the grammy-nominated DJ and producer has used his influence to tell the inspiring stories of Detroit’s illustrious music scene – and the black creators that made that scene so influential. In conversation with: Josh Taerk

Josh Taerk is a billboard charting singer/songwriter from Toronto. He’s released several albums including his latest full-length, Beautiful Tragedy, which has been streamed more than 150,000 times on Spotify.  He built a loyal following doing video livestreams on Twitch and last summer decided to add Blast Radio to the mix for fans that prefer to listen instead of watching (something we recommend all video streamers do).  We recently spoke with Taerk to learn more about him, his taste, his inspirations, and what he’s got going on. Read on to learn about the man singing the songs.

In conversation with: Wigflippa

Wigflippa has been a staple of the Blast Radio airwaves for more than a year now. He walks the walk on his tagline, “Not the new school or the old school, the whole school,” with streams covering a lot of musical ground – his own original music, his friends' music, his label mates’ music (Sunday Dinner Records), and music he just loves.  We’ve written about Sunday Dinner Records in the past, but this week we’re going deeper with Wig. Read on to learn about the emcee.

In conversation with: Sound Parade

‘Sound Parade’ is the newest, and potentially most mysterious, broadcaster to the Blast Radio airwaves. While a solo broadcaster, his shows are presented in the style of an internal dialogue with the host switching back and forth between two microphones and having a conversation with… himself.  As described in his Blast Radio profile bio, Sound Parade is an intrepid host trying desperately to navigate the stream of consciousness conversations while presenting a “Parade of Sound” featuring personal recordings, vinyl selections, and modular synths. He set himself a goal to do at least 100 broadcasts, however long that takes, and so far he's done 7. You've got 93 more to tune into.   We recently reached out for an interview… In true Sound Parade style, the responses we received were written as an internal conversation.

In conversation with: Tray Fisk

Tray Fisk is a visual digital artist with a deep love of culture, art, and music. While his primary creation medium is for the eye, he’s long had a taste to use his voice and love of sound to connect with audiences. For the past year, he’s used Blast Radio to scratch that itch.  Hosting a weekly show every Friday, Tray takes fans on an audible journey through his picks of the week, art news, opinions, and experiences as an American ex-pat now living in Istanbul. More recently, he’s even been giving away a NFT for one of his works of art to a lucky listener.  We recently spoke with Tray to learn more about him, his inspirations, and his love of the movie Labyrinth.

In conversation with: OldHead

OldHead is a top contender for the most eccentric of all Blast Radio broadcasters. Going live from his cabin in the woods – frequently with special guests and consistently with pickle sandwiches – his broadcasts bring a combination of laughs, tunes, jokes, and commentary about his late pet moose, Martha.  We recently spoke with him to learn more about his taste, his inspirations, and the album he’s got in the works. Read on to learn about the man in the woods.
